Shopping in Fronteras...and a traffic jam! We had forgotten about the unbelievably loud trucks coming down the bridge before going through town and how pungent the cattle trucks are as they pass you with only inches to spare! Of course they can be smelled long before they even get close so it is always wise to move over a bit more out of the street if you can! Capt Paul thinks that all they do is load the cattle up on one side of town in the morning and then take them back to the other side at night! Tourist attraction? Yeah, yeah...although, sometimes I wonder really what they are doing because so many cattle trucks do go through town! I bought a t-shirt about driving in Honduras when my kids were vacationing with us, we took the ferry over to the mainland, I rented a car and we drove to Copan (May 2010 blog)! I really think a t-shirt about walking and shopping in Fronteras would tell a great story and be a great sell! Saturday and Wednesdays are the best fresh fruit and vegetable shopping days...and of course the busiest! Capt Paul loves to shop...so we had to go yesterday! We reaped the rewards and had fresh peas for dinner last night, bought some beautiful broccoli, found the pineapple, cantelope and limes to complete our smoothy ingredients!
On the way to and from town (via Hugo) I am always amazed at how beautiful this river is and how we are just visitors to a way of live that has gone on for many years and hopefully will continue. This video is an experiment with my Olympus, which does not take videos...ahhhh, it's so nice to have some time on my hands again! Oh...fiddle sticks...looks like it did not work this time! Oh, wait...maybe it did!! We do hope to take a short trip up to Antigua later this week...so I guess...tomorrow I get more cleaning and stowing completed!
