Snorking the Indians and Sail to Marina Cay

February 11th, 2008

Paul knew that the snorkeling at the Indians was fantastic so rather than snorkel at Money Bay we left early while having tea and left-over streusel muffins. Just as we arrived a cat left…good thing as where Paul remembers LOTS of mooring balls…now there are just three! So, to whom do we give the credit of getting the mooring ball? Well, I did get it under the watchful eye of the neighboring boat next door, on the second grab try…but if Paul had not been maneuvering so slowly right toward it…we would have looked like the rookies that we were laughing at the previous night….so I think I’m saying that just about anyone can grab a mooring ball…it is getting the boat in the right place at the right time!!! Anyway, we finished our tea, dug out our mask, snorkel and fins and into the water we went!

Really beautiful around the rocks, under the water and as Paul had known…a GREAT snorkel spot! Little to no current or wave action! The water was 40 to 50 feet deep but we could see the bottom.

The Yellow-tailed Snappers are so friendly…they were following Paul! We finished our swim….looked at the bottom of the boat (which is really in great condition – but that is more the technical stuff of Paul’s type of blog).

Saw my first shark…little one and thankfully he/she was not interested!

By the time we left The Indians (it was still early) after we showered…and there were 4 to 5 boats circling and waiting for one of the mooring balls.

We had a great sail, tacking up the Sir Francis Drake Channel to Marina Cay where we are now and able to get online to update. Paul was able to find a dive boat for me to take to the wreck of the Rhone…and then probably another reef dive on Wednesday morning. We will be headed to Virgin Gorda Sound tomorrow so I can meet them for the dive EARLY Wednesday!
