More of Antigua

Yes, we would like to spend even more time in Antigua. Paul really likes that the temperature is cooler...it is inexpensive...and really a quaint little town...
If you look closely this chica has a chick in her cake box...this was at the Guat City bus station...
And, like I said in a previous blog...the Guatemalan people have not given their country traditions over to political correctness...The square early on Christmas day...BEFORE the crowds got up out of bed!
Mas tarde en la dia...there were A LOT of people...
Paul and I walked to the mercado later in the day from our hostel...
It seems I have had a positive shopping effect on Paul...well, okay, maybe not...but with the new curtains...new bimini top and shades...and complete re-covering of the entire boat cushions... he also did pick up some BEAUTIFUL things for the boat...
This is one of Paul's favorite parts of the mercado...FOOD!!! And, it is fresh...beautiful...and cheap!!
I walked to one of the church's and found this nativity scene...
A Christmas Day horseback ride through Antigua...
On Sunday we took a shuttle (no we haven't gotten "local" enough yet to ride the chicken bus) to Chichicastenango one of the most widely known mercantile markets of Guatemala...All along the mountain highway for quite a few miles these children were waving and greeting all of the traffic going into Chichicastenango.
Paul is in the left corner of this picture...I was on the steps of the church...the market went on for miles....beautiful hand made (and some machine made) items
We even met an American living in Mexico and buying a truck load for sale in Mexico!!A wonderful lunch at a beautiful hotel and restaurant...our shuttle back to Antigua and the bus Monday morning back to the Rio...
